partial tear in patellar tendon.

hi. I'm 15 years old and i was diagnosed with a partial tear in my left patellar tendon in my knee. i was told that surgery is recommended but i am going to get another opinion. I have no idea what to do, i am active in sports but i don't want to get the surgery and not be able to play again. What is your opinion? should i get the surgery or not, what are the side effects? Help Please!!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,

You can try conservative treatment, but with physiotherapy recovery will take time. If you are into active sports and you want faster recovery then surgery is an option.

What is the amount of damage to the quadriceps tendon?
Discuss with your orthopedician and discuss about conservative treatment.

Take care!
