post fcu tendonitis surgery - Believe stretched before ready!

Hi

I had fcu tendonitis surgery 7 weeks ago and see the surgeon for follow up in a month.  Did not receive therapy instructions from my surgeon. At 6weeks I couldn't find any info for fcu tendonitis post surgery physiotherapy instructions on the web, but found other instruction, ie.  ganglion cyst post surgery therapy exercises. The instructions said to stretch wrist at 6 weeks.  So, at 6 weeks I stretched the wrist very far (AS far forward and backwards as it could go.  Went to a physiotherapy therapist for other issues beside surgery on wrist and asked if the stretching of wrist 6 weeks post surgery will harm it.  She did not know much about fcu tendon surgery and said she would only recommend rom exercises but no stretching period and said I could serious mess up the wrist surgery.  Now I am very scared I may have damaged the surgery.  I am not sure if I am in more pain then before i stretched the wrist but was told by my Dr it would take 2 months to heal.  I am really nervous that I messed up.  I stretched it a lot for 2 days and put a bit of weight on it during the stretch.  Any input you could give I would really appreciate.

Thank you!!!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

If the stretching done was unassisted and not against resistance i.e. stretching without support or help from other hand it should not have caused much damage and is recommended. Stretching beyond the capability prior to recovery is advised only under medical guidance. Since you have not mentioned any discomfort I would assume it to not have caused any harm, though it is best evaluated by your orthopedician at a follow up visit.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!

Should add pisiform bone was remvoved and Surgeon said tendon was ragady.  Believe tendon was debridement and attached elsewhere in wrist.
