recurring Non-union wrist

by sisterevil, May 31, 2007 12:00AM
I have had a major non-union wrist that has been broken since 2003.  I have had 10 operations with different bone grafts/plate systems etc. This last bone graft had 2 plate systems used and when they tried to screw in one plate the ulna crumbled like a cookie.  My question is how long do I keep attempting to fix this?  Is there a point it just stayes broken?  All the surgeries has kept my off work, broken up my marriage and I have been getter very depressed lately as there is no end in site.  Just wondering if there is any new radical ideas I can research?
OR??? Any ifo would be greatly appreciated.

This may seem obvious, but have you tried a different physician or physician group?  I would seek out the opinion from an upper extremity specialist that is associated with the most respected hospital in your area for a second opinion.  Often times the best doctors can miss something that a simple second opinion will catch.

Cheers,
    Chris
