right clavical heat and numbness after surgery

My daughter broke her right clavical for the second time. This time it broke in two places, the doc said it looked like a broken pretzel. she says it feels better now but has alot of heat radiating around the incision and down the back of her sholder and neck. numbness down her breast plate. Her surgen is gone for the next two weeks on vacation and she just had the surgery 3 days ago. Is the heat and numbness normal? Should I worry with it being even warm to my touch?

Hi there!

Slightly increased temperature and numbness is expected after the surgery. This occurs due to inflammation and should subside with time. If this does not improve in the next few days or there is a flare in the symptoms, I would recommend contacting your doctor’s team for a possible review to rule out issues such as infection etc.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
