Hi doctor,
I was diagnosed with spondyloarthritis 3 years back. I am under Arcoxia 90mg twice daily, and a few vitamin D supplements since my vitamin D count is only 4. But now also i have got severe buttock pain, stiffness in the spine, low back pain etc. Recently I had an X-ray done, and my ortho dr, told me my SI joints are ok. I did'nt know whethere i had to be happy or sad. If the X-ray doesn't show any problem, then why am I getting the buttock and low back pain? He told me there is disc degeneration in L5-S1 vertebraes. I also underwent X-ray for my knees and foot. My knee x-ray states I have arthritis and my foot x-ray states I have bilateral plantar fasciitis. My questions are:
1) Does sacroiliitis always show in the x-ray?
2) Is sacroilitis fully curable?
3) Is plantar fasciitis connected with spondyloarthritis?
Thank you
1. No, sacroillitis many not always show up on the x-rays.
2. Sacroillitis may not be fully curable but is a fairly treatable condition. Treatment response may depend on the severity of the condition and the presence of related conditions.
3. Plantar fasciitis is unlikely to be related to spondyloarthropathies, though these could occur together in a few conditions like psoriatic/ reactive arthritis; though features of arthritis are generally more prominent than faciitis in such situations.
Hope this information was useful.
Take care!
