scoliosis surgery needed

by dizzyju, Jul 03, 2009 11:23AM
Is  it possible that my daughters scoliosis has been caused by being in a hip harness for 6 months as a baby? I was told she would be in the harness for 6 weeks originally but her hip sockets took so long to deepen. Her feet are slightly deformed so it stands to reason it surely mustve had an impact on her spine? please help?

This might be a reason but you have to recall developing the scoliosis then. The paediatrician would not put her continously for 6 months without giving a break.
Now you should concentrate on the present problem and discuss the treatment avenues for her scoliosis and feet deformity.
The traditional medical management of scoliosis is complex and is determined by the severity of the curvature, skeletal maturity, which together help predict the likelihood of progression. The conventional options are, in order:
1)Observation
2)Bracing
3)Surgery

Take care!
