Hello!

The commonest reason is a muscle pull if it is acute. It can also be starting of a hernia if it is chronic condition

You have to recollect if you have any injury, fall or any condition where you had to overstretch your legs. It is also possible by wearing faulty footwear.

You would need to rest and take anti inflammatory drugs and if does not help visit an Orthopedician.

Take care!
