shooting shoulder pain while resting

by mommymel, Dec 06, 2006 12:00AM
I am 39 y.o. female and I'm having sharp shooting sudden pains in the front of my left shoulder.  Happens while I am not doing anything?  plus, when laying on that shoulder in bed and putting arm overhead, behind pillow.
It happened about a month ago, while i was shopping and had my purse on that shoulder.  (now I don't carry my purse on my left shouder:)
Going to take ibuprofen, but wondering when or it I should contact g.p. or orthopod?
Should I keep doing my circuit training class?
Thanks in advance!

You should contact a specialist; or your PCP to give you a specialist whom he would refer.  Might be bursitis or adhesive capsulitis.  I work for a Physical Therapist and those are the two problems patients have with shoulder pain unless they tore their rotator cuff.  Hope this helps!
