shot in knee - Meniscal tear, grade II MCL sprain

by Schatzie92675, Mar 29, 2007 12:00AM
Hi everyone...new to board and I have a question.  a little over a month ago I injured my knee causing a partial medial meniscal tear, a partial lateral meniscal tear and a grade II MCL sprain.  I am waiting to see the surgeon but today received an injection to try to help with the pain and swelling.  My leg feels 10 times worse right now.  Instead of the pain being isolated in my knee as before, I am having horrible cramping throughout my whole leg.  Is the increase in pain from the injection?  Can I expect the pain to lessen?  If so, how soon?  My doc is completely against pain meds so I have only been taking ibuprofen.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you had a cordizon ( sorry my spelling stinks) Broke is correct about waiting for relief. Releif may come as early as the next but my experience has been around a week. I discussed this with my dr he said that the varying times of pain relief is normal. Good luck!

To: Multiple meniscal tears
Injured my knee 10 days ago slidding out of a booth at a Denny's.  Still on crutches.  MRI shows mutiple meniscal tears.  I have to go see the surgeon now and wondering what I might expect.  I can not walk on my leg without pain nor can I straighten it.  Also if I do need surgery what kind of recovery are you looking at?
