I have heard great progress in hip and knee surgery, even athletes running and jogging again.  But are there any improvements in shoulder replacement.  I have heard nightmare stores of minimal usage after replacement surgery.
18 months ago I had shoulder surgery to clean up my shoulder joint (arthritis and old damage).  He wanted to replace the shoulder at that time.  I asked if I could continue to lift weights and work after surgery.  He said probably not and that the stories I had herd were somewhat true.  He did not replace the shoulder, only clean it up.  With daily doses (200mg) of Ibuprofen I am back to lifting weights, but can not lift over my head with the bad shoulder.  Are improvements coming???
thanks.

To: pilgrim2,
It is always good to avoid lifting weights. You have a shoulder injury and this is due to arthritis and chronic problems you had. You had some corrective surgery.

Replacement will compromise movements as this would not be your original joint and there will always be restricted movements. But this is a last option and it is done to improve the quality of life.

With shoulder replacement/ without also you are advised not to lift weights. Follow up near your orthopaedician and limit the use of pain killers.

Take care!
