sprain I think can treat it without going to the emergency room

by Starmedicine, Oct 09, 2008 01:28PM
I injured my ankle jogging and unsure whether it is a sprain or a fracture. I do not want to go to the emergency room if I can treat it myself.

I'm not a doctor, but if it's really swollen, bruised and/or you can't stand on it, go to the er.  If you're not sure if it's a sprain or fracture, you probably need x-rays taken.

I made the mistake of not getting sprains treated.  I ended up having both ankles reconstructed due to recurrent sprains.
