tingley knee numbness

by Gem91, Jul 03, 2009 01:39PM
About 3 weeks ago i noticed, just below/on the outside of my knee i had a loss of sensation there. I wouldnt say its completely numb because i still feel hot and cold or things brushing against it, but for example when i shave my legs i cant feel the razor going over that small area. It is more noticeable in very hot water. Just below my knee when i press it i feel a tight tingley prickley sensation as if pulling on something almost, its hard to explain?
I've still been able to walk and run on it, not pain but a very weird feeling when its touched and definately sensitive.
I have anxiety so im thinking worst case scenarios, any idea what it could be? im an 18yr old girl by the way

Loss of feeling in a particular area may be due to allergy or drug reaction. Peripheral nerves contains receptors of heat and cold and if there is some abbrasion, scratch or a fall you lose the sensation for couple of days.
At your age we do not suspect anything other than these reasons. Go for a Physician if you do not get back your sensations in couple of days.
Take care!

Thankyou for the comment, i noticed i do have a mark right at the sensitive point where i press it, it kind of looks like dry skin but i dont think that it is? Seems weird i would get it in exactly the same place.
Anyway im going to my doctor in 2 days and hopefully he will have some idea what it is. Im still very very scared but hoping its something treatable!

To: Gem91,
Well it is treatable and if you injured some peripheral nevers due to injury it takes some regeneration time. Do not worry and your Physician will diagnose this after an examination.
