How are you? Torn ulnar collateral ligament requires treatment on whether the tear is complete or partial. And the kind of treatment also depends upon the duration after injury. Surgery immediately after injury has good results if it is a complete tear. If the tear is partial, and the thumb is not too loose, the patient is usually placed in a cast for 4 to 6 weeks. If the surgery is considered late after injury reconstruction of ligament from other part can be taken up. Full recovery can be expected with 3-4 months.
