weak ankles?

when i was in elementary school i sprained my ankle and it never healed properly. ive had ankle problems since but in the last 5 years ive had to constantly wear an ankle brace because i seem to always injure it in someway without the brace. do i need to have some kind of surgery for it?

Hello.

You need to find out if it was a ligament injury or a bone fracture. If it was a bone fracture, how well it has reunited. Ligament injuries take a long time to heal and they can recur if the actions are not changed or altered.

Have you been following up with an orthopedic surgeon?
