what do I do about a crush injury to my foot?

I have a crushed left foot with multiple fractures (possible Lis Franc Fracture). My Dr. describes it as a windshield that has been hit by a rock and shattered. All the pieces stayed in place tho. I have numbness to varying degrees thru out the entire foot. I still have severe swelling when I dont have it elevated. BTW this injury happened on 1-10-11. My Dr. said there isnt anything that can be done other than let nature take its course and it will heal in time. What should I do?

Hello!

The Lis franc joint is the point at which the metatarsal bones (long bones that lead up to the toes) and the tarsal bones (bones in your foot) connect.

Lis Franc's fracture dislocations can occur in many different ways. It can be caused by both a direct crushing type injury or a force applied to the metatarsal heads.

Discuss with a podiatrist and take the best course of treatment.

Lis franc’s joint injuries are rare, complex and often misdiagnosed. Typical signs and symptoms include pain, swelling and the inability to bear weight.

Take care!
