worried for possible complications

3 fingers of my right hand were lacerated at my work on restaurant on march 25 2011. index finger was most injured on dip joint or so called mallet finger and after x.rays show extensor tendon is completely destroyed on dip joint.dr. said that fusion of dip joint is the only option to treat the finger.on 28 march i had a surgery for mallet finger and.middle and ring finger had stiches. 2 weeks after stiches were removed.last time i visited 26 april for exam,had x.rays ortho said it is healing.i was given a new appointment on may 24 to remove the pins inside index finger.please help me if someone has the same problem.i have some questions.it is already 43 days since surgery but i still have much pain, swelling and stiffness in index and middle finger and senstivity on ring fingertip. is it normal why middle finger mcp joint is painful and stiff along with pip and dip joint.
is there any possibility of complications? why it is taking so long for these problems to improve and how much it will effect on my work ability?after removing pins from index finger how long does it takes for hand and fingers rehabilitation.
