wrist MRI findings

My doc is out of town for two weeks. Looking for someone that can interpret my wrist MRI findings. Went in with ulnar side wrist pain. No x-ray findings. Here are the MRi results-
1. mild thickening and increased signal of extensor carpi ulnaris tendon just beyond the ulnar styloid as well as distally toward the hamate.
2. small amount of fluid is seen along the tendon sheath of the extensor carpi radialis as well as distally along the flexors of the middle finger at the metacarpophalangeal joint.
3. small amount of fluid in the metacarpophalangeal  joints, diffusely. Nonspecific.
4. Focal sclerosis at the ulnar base of the lunate, nonspecific with intact triangular fibrocartilage.

Advice??

Are you able to tell me mines?

Localized fusiform thickening of the extensor carpi ulnaris tendon as it passes over and behind the ulnar styloid.  This could be associated with myxoid degeneration, acute or chronic inflammation.  No evidence of a longitudinal tear.

Thickening of the carpal tunnel retinaculum along the volar aspect of the wrist. No evidence of abnormality of the underlying median nerve or the common flexor tendons.

Thanks. I go in on Tuesday. I take Etodolac due to OA and DISH. Wearing a splint has been helping. Will let you know what he says.

Hi there!

Mild thickening and fluid in the tendon sheath is indicative of inflammation/ tendinopathy. Since this is mild it should improve with rest and anti-inflammatory medications. Joint fluid and sclerosis could be due to mild inflammation/ degeneration. Being minimal it should not be anything to worry about. You may consult your orthopedician for specific advice and appropriate management.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
