wrist fracture---unremiting pain

12 days ago my 8 year old son fell from about 5-6 feet and fractured his wrist (distal radius hairline fracture).  he was seen by family dr. less than 2 hours after the fall, did x-rays and confirmed the fracture.  they put him a splint and sent us to an orthopedic dr, he never came in the or looked at my sons wrist just the x-rays and had his PA tells me it was a hairline frature and to come back in 4 weeks and we could take the splint off at night.  So i followed the drs. instructios and take the splint off but only for bath time and then it goes back on.  My son is still complaining for alot of pain on the thumb side of his wrist just about half an inch above the joint and the center of the top of his wrist.  it is still swelling quite a bit even though he is inthe splint and a sling all day and at night we keep pillows under his arm to keep it elavated.  since neitherr i nor my husband have ever broken a bone in our lives i don't know what to do.  All i know is my son is very active and has tiny arms and maybe he hurt it again and just doesn't want to tell me due to the fact that he doesn't want a cast but i don't care what he wants. I want his wrist to be totally normal after the healing process.  please all the help i can get will be great we are medicaid paitents so we don';t get the best care hear.
