Bowel movements

by Polly735, May 28, 2009 04:06PM
I have had a colostomy for 23 years.  I have always irrigated and managed to control bowel movements this way.  Lately, I have had bowel excretions throughout the day in between irrigations.  Often when I irrigate I have difficulty in getting the water into my stoma.  What could be causing this change in my bowel movements?

it could be a stricture... a narrowed area..in ur pathway leading to ur stoma..often they can dilate that so c ur dr..a dr who specializes in this type of surgery which would be a GI surgeon...u r not completely emptying due to the stricture and then it is catching u by surprise later on in the day...get it checked by a good GI doc
