Diarrhea from Reverse Colostomy

by joyce1936, Sep 20, 2009 01:43AM
My husband is presently in hospital and had a reverse colostomy, suffered an Ileus, and has diarrhea now very badly.  His left side is still sluggish.  Is this the usual pattern for this surgery and how long does it take to recover from the diarrhea?

Im not sure on how long it takes to recover.  My mother had a colostomy and had it reversed and i can remember her always having bad diarrhea.  I do know for what ever what reason they had to redo the colostomy.  This reverse colostomy did work out for her.  I understand what its like to have somebody close go through such procedures and i feel for both you and your husband.  It's not easy.
