Is adjusting to an ileostomy tough?

by DKinMN, Jun 03, 2009 01:07PM
I am looking for any and all advice and opinions regarding ileostomies.  I have had a  j-pouch for six years and due to chronic pouchities, will probably have a take-down in July.  Is this decision extremely hard for everyone?
Thx,
DKinMN

I have FAP and had my entire colon and rectum removed in 2002.  They used my small intestine to make a j-pouch and it's not working well so it should really be removed.  The only option left is a ileostomy.
