This patient support community is for discussions relating to ostomy, colostomy, diet and nutrition, gastrostomy ileostomy, jejunostomy, ostomy reversal, sex and relationships, stoma, urostomy, and wound care.
I went in for an outpatient hernia repair and was admitted 2 days later with perotonitis - that resulted in an ostomy. I had no prior warning or discussion about it. I just woke up with a bag. Luckily, my Dr says it is reversable. It is about 5 weeks since surgery and I am scheduled for a reversal in about a month (Dec 4). After reading through the forum, it sounds like I am in for a lot of diahria after the reversal.
It is not really an option to just skip the reversal and keep the bag as I am not comfortable with it at all. I always have a sort of sick to my stomach feeling and it hurts!
What I really want to know is: Are there some positive stories about reversal surgery? I would love to "arm myself" with some of them before I have the next surgery...?
