More surgery - will it ever end?

by Scarlett007, Oct 31, 2009 10:01PM
I went in for an outpatient hernia repair and was admitted 2 days later with perotonitis - that resulted in an ostomy. I had no prior warning or discussion about it. I just woke up with a bag. Luckily, my Dr says it is reversable. It is about 5 weeks since surgery and I am scheduled for a reversal in about a month (Dec 4). After reading through the forum, it sounds like I am in for a lot of diahria after the reversal.

I am also a diabetic and have a history of 3 seperate primary cancers. I have had multiple surgeries, chemo twice, radiation... and am frankly sick to death of hospitals and procedures.

It is not really an option to just skip the reversal and keep the bag as I am not comfortable with it at all. I always have a sort of sick to my stomach feeling and it hurts!

What I really want to know is: Are there some positive stories about reversal surgery? I would love to "arm myself" with some of them before I have the next surgery...?
