New to group/new to living w/ a colostomy

Here's the gist of my story.  Can anyone relate??  I was recently released from a 23 day hospital stay and now have a colostomy.  Until 4/28 of this year, I was a healthy, active, female.  I went to work, felt fine.  I had a sudden HORRIFIC pain in my lower abdomen that wouldn't go away.  I ended up being transported by ambulance to the ER, had x-rays and CT scans, ended up having emergency surgery and went to recovery with a colostomy.  I had two additional surgeries before my discharge.  I developed two absesses that required surgical intervention.  I return to work this coming Monday.  I guess I just need to talk to others who have colostomies.....

sounds as tho u may have had diverticulitis?  often they r reversed 3-6 mths later these days..is urs permanent?  really..and i know this doesnt sound feasible to u right now..people can live normal lives and no one ever even knows they have the bag...there r newscasters we watch daily on tv who have them...it is not uncommon as u may think...alot of it is dealing with the mental issues and those can be dealt with..there r support groups..have u tried googling any in ur area?
