A lady been colostomy 16 years ago.her rectum and anus were removed because of colon cancer.she never used colostomy bags. She is healthy now but is fed up with pain and slight bleeding in the colostomy area so she desires to have a reversal surgery but wonders if it is possible after this long priod,is there any body who can give her consultation and leads her to right hospital and doctors, any help is appreciated ,thanks a lot

If her rectum and anus were removed and the area sewn up then she can not have a reversal. If she still had her rectum then she might be able to do that. Does she have a hernia at the colostomy site?  She should see a gastroenterologist or general surgeoon who deals with colostomy surgery.
