1 cm 'gray spot'

In December 2003, I had a normal TVUS.   Recently I had another which indicated a < or = to 1 cm "spot."  The technician said that it was gray rather than black. The US was performed mid to late cycle possibly.  Although I am 41, perimenopausal and quite irregular.  Any ideas?  She indicated that sometimes when cysts are resolving that they can appear gray or bleed into themselves.  What should I expect in terms of follow-up?  Can a spot appear within 3 months? I am asymptomatic except for a possible diagnosis of Interstitial Cystitis.  The US was done mostly to appease me. Finally, does size of mass sometimes equate with stage of cancer?  Thank you very much.
