10cm complex mass right ovary

Hi i have a 10cm complex mass on my right ovary.I'm 51,went through the menopause years ago,but am now having periods every 2 weeks. My consultant cancelled my mri after discussing my abdominal scan with the radiographer. He says he can see everything he needs to see to perform my surgery safely.(He's recommended complete hysterectomy) Does the cancelled mri mean he can see that the mass hasn't spread to anything else? If so does that mean there's less chance of it being cancer? Thankyou.

Hey there kid....sorry you are having to go through this.  I don't know what cancelling the mri means.  The only way to determine whether a mass is malignant or not is by sending a sample to pathology during surgery.  That being said....YOU HAVE ONLY ONE CHANCE TO GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME......it is imperative you have a gyn/oncologist perform your surgery.  They are trained for situations just like yours....they are the specialists trained to "debulk" (remove as much of the tumor...malignant or benign....as is humanly possible).  Don't take a chance....get a referral from your doctor....he/she should not be the least bit offended as your health (not their ego) should be of the utmost importance.  Hang in there....the wait is not fun....keep us posted.  Remember at the very least at least 95% of all tumors are benign...that's the good news!
Peace.

Did you have a CT scan? If so, that would be all he needs.
