11 year old daughter taken to emergency reason was cyst burst on her overy

I truly hope this does not belong on this forum..:(

My 11 year old daughter just began her period....a few days afterword she came home from church with pain in her side.  Not knowing what was going on we took her straight to emergency.

7 hours later after blood testing, urine testing, and a catscan the emergency doctor told us that a cyst had burst on one of her overies and this this was in some sort of relation to her beginning her mystral cycle.  Then when we asked the doctor if this would happen again he said "no usually not"

After we took her home over the next 2 days she still had leftovers of a fever and chills....but appears to be getting better quickly....nothing other then motrin was prescribed.

I am frustrated because I know absolutely nothing about this.....I came to work today and one of the females that works here says that since it has happened once it will continue to happen.  I am petrified.

Hi There,
I think your daughter will be just fine. When there is ovulation, the egg pushes through the outer linign of the ovary and is released into the abdomen next to the fallopian tube. The fallopian tube picks up the egg and the egg floats down the tube and into the uterus.

Many women will experience pain in the middle of their  menstrual cycle when they ovulate. The term for it is a German term called mittelschmerze.
Sometimes at the time of ovulation, there is a little bleeding from the surface lining of the ovary. Sometimes there is alot of bleeding and a woman can have signiifciant pain and blood in the abdomen.

It takes about 48 hours for the pain to go away.

best wishes
