My 16 year old daughter was diagnosed w/ovarian cancer on 12/27/02.  She has since had surgery to remove her ovaries and tubes, omentum, appendix, belly button.  Her doctors have said that they feel that they have gotten everything and classified it as a borderline tumor stage IIc.  They do not want to give any treatment after such an agressive surgery and also with the cancer being found in so many places.  Her CA125 was taken on 1/24/02 and was 153 which is still high. Waht is a normal level after surgery?  I don't understand how they would not give her any treatment at all. Her oncologist wants to see her every 2 weeks for a while to watch her which is understandable but still they tell me no treatment its a little confusing and my daughter is scared to death. The doctors have also said that with the type of cnacer she has there is no chemo to treat it.  My questions is then if it returns how do we treat it then? I have tried to find other studies regarding teenage girls with this disease but I have only found one who I have spoken with.  If anyone knows of any other teenagers who have gone thru this please let me know. I am at a lose and don't know where else to turn.

Hello,

I thought I could maybe be a little bit of a hopfully thought for the situation.  I was 16 when I was told I had overian cancer.  I had first gone into the doctors 3.5 years before.
I was told I was in stage 3.  I am 20 now.  I went through surgery and than spent the spring/summer..every 6 weeks going through Chemo.  After 6 treatments the cancer wasn't any where to be seen in scans.
Everyone told everyone but me that I wouldn't make my 18th b-day, I found out a few months ago and that was something that killed to find out that no one had any faith.  I will be cancer free for 4 years on April 5th (day I had my surgery 1999)
First of all I think if you and your family and your daughter keeps their spirts up and pray.
I have great hopes for this young lady and I think she can be just like me and make it to show the world that you can have a sickly cancer and still make it.  I hope to hear about what is going on soon.

Hi, The post you are writing to is from 2003, I guess you didn't notice the year.

If you have no cash for a doctor or medical insurance, and you are having these symptoms, go to a clinic or hospital ER.
It's not normal to be bleeding for so long, and the urinating problem may be a urinary tract infection.
Don't let this go on, I understand that you're scared but you obviously need to see a doctor.
Let us know what happens, we're here to give you support.
