1rst appt with GYN/ONC at Roswell Cancer Inst.

I had my first appt at Roswell-met my Dr. who I really liked. He said that a transvaginal is not good to find OC especially when they cant find it or scanned the wrong side (ovary) and I have alot of fluid and waste. He is moving really quick which I am greatfull for.  I have a CT Scan tomarrow at 6pm with IV contrast/dye and I have to drink oral contrast than wait one hour before exam. So that means I get both? That test is going to take awhile. Did pelvic and rectum so much pain he had to stop. He gave me loritabs(sp) for pain. I thought I was going to have to go to the ER-I have had pain, but nothing like what I have ever experienced. My whole abdomin and pelvic did something but it hurt right to my back-i've never experienced anything like that. I just curled up in a ball. The pain med helped alot.

I do the CT tomarrow and I go back next wednessday for Dr appt. The Dr did say either way (CT) the ovary needs to come out- so we will discuss that Wed. and set up the surgery. Will I have to stay in the hospital? Will it be as bad as the hyster. in 1985?

Me hubby didnt come today (thank goodness) and I'll go have the CT alone- he has boy scouts with our grandson. He wont go next week either- he can come to the surgery. We call him Ozzy! (lol) I think it has alot to do with being stationed in Germany in the 70's. I can pack him a bag with stuff to do while he waits-snacks, books/mags, and his DS handheld (he loves playing XBOX).

I had that colonascopy done and when I got home- he gives me a can of corn to eat! LOL That was something you do not want to put through a colon that had polups removed. He tries. Why does a ovary cause so much pain to the abdomin and rectum? Why does the belly swell and hurt so bad. Thank you again ladies for your help and support.
Penny

Did the doctors explain what they meant by "waste" blocking the ovary?

I know you will be so relieved to have that ovary removed.  I wish you a speedy recovery.  Marie

Hi.  Seems like you're on a good path with your gyn oc especially since you like him.  That means a lot!  I have a gyn oc who I really like and trust completely especially since he went through cancer himself -- so he really knows what everyone is feeling.

Hope everything comes out well for you!

Hey there, Penny...... you are on the right path.  You are presently seeing a gyn/oncologist and that is precisely what you should be doing.  I can hear the frustration in your voice and I am quite certain I would be just as frustrated as you are.
All you can do is just hang in there until you get the results from all your tests..... at that point you and your onc can decide what your next move should be.   Try to be patient and positive...... easy to say I know......
Hang in there, kid.   Please do let us know what you find out.
Peace.

There was one sono done in 2006- couldnt find ovary to much fluid and waste. CA125 was 116. Since they couldnt find ovary dismissed it as menopause.  When I picked up those reports and pics- to my horror they had scanned the wrong side. And stated I had my right ovary removed surg.- Not true- I have my right ovary.

Tuesday (last week)- I had a appt with new OB who did sono and couldnt find the ovary becuz of fluid and waste said nothing wrong cuz it would show up.

Yesterday- 1rst appt with GYN/ONC made appt for CT followed by appt with him next Wed. Either way the ovary has to come out.

What made me think I might have OVC? The history- hyster. w ovary intact- had GI problems and bowel problems-bloating- pain on right side- not eating anymore- pain during intercourse. Everything else has checked out normal. Were else do I go? What else can they check? I would like to know- what other options do I have left? If someone could help me great becuz I would rather be looking somewhere else.

Good morning- I am 48 yrs old live in NY(upstate). I had a hyster. when I was 26 yrs old-they left a healthy ovary in (the right side). I have been dealing with diaherra (have accidents) bloating pain and I dont hardly eat anymore it is just to uncomfortable and food dont taste to good (i know crazy sounding). Had gallbladder out 2005.  I seen a OB  in 2006 who did a transvaginal and couldnt find anything (fluid and waste) also I had a CA125 which was 116. Since they couldnt find the ovary they said everything was alright-probably menopause. I went and picked up the report and sono pics and to my horror they scanned the wrong side (left) and the report stated my right ovary was surg. removed-which it was not. Still had symptoms but started getting worse and was happening alot.  Seen GI in 2008 did colonascopy and endoscopy found polyps in both places removed came back begnin. No IBS Chroins Div. nothing (thats why I laugh about my hubby giving me can of corn for my lunch) I was still having trouble and seen PCP put me on anti depressant said it was stress related. I got constip. for about 4-5 weeks and went back to GI Dr. said it had nothing to do with that area becuz everything came back good. Seen OB last tues. did sono couldnt find ovary becuz of fuild and waste. GYN/ONC had 1rst appt yesterday and CT tonight. I go back Wed and he will tell me results of CT and schedule surgery to have ovary removed. My aunt Nancy died of OC in the 60's  and my dads sister died of OC in the 70's. Grandmother had BC- and my 1rst cousin my age was diag. w BC she is in remission.

My mom has 9 sisters out of the 9- 6 has had hyster. in their 30' and 40's. Pre cancerous pap smears and heavy bleeding. I am the youngest to have a hyster. at age 26. My grandmothers (mom's mom) sister had 5 daughters out of the 5- 3 had BC and my cousin who is my age has BC and is in remission.

My aunts had everything removed- I was left with a ovary and thats why I am in this sitution. Would they have had OC if they didnt have the hyster? (they took everything out).

My dr. told me sometimes things dont always show up on transvaginal or even CT's but he feels very strongly it must come out.  Take it! I dont need it! (lol) I just wish they would have taken 20 some years ago.

I hope this helps clear things up.

I must say I've also been confused by some  of your postings. I find myself thinking that you had posted something different, on another post.
For example, I thought you had a TVU at the new GYN last week, but you said you picked up a TVU and CA from a couple of years ago.
Like Teresa said, you never did mention the symptoms tha led you to believe that you have OVCA.
Do as the ladies said, and fill out more info on your profile to give us a better idea of your situation and location.

Good luck with your appointment today.

I have been confused, too.  Because of that I think I have avoided answering.  Filling in the age and location would be a starting point like the above person mentioned.  Marie

I don't know if it's just ME or if there are others who have the same reaction about your posts. I am totally confused.  I don't know if it is because you posted on several threads asking different questions or what. Anyway...if you could complete more relevant information on your profile, it might help some.  Your age and location is a start. Every time you post, I try to go back and put it all together to no success.  Is there a reason you suspect you might have Ovarian Cancer? Did you ever get results from a CA125? If so, when was that? I seem to remember that you did have that test a while back, but have had no cancer treatments. Am I correct?

I want to understand, because I care about you. I think you will find that about all of the ladies here. It might not be me personally who can help you, but if I am confused...perhaps others are too. If not, I will blame it on my chemo fogged mind. LOL
