1st recurrance and reaction to carboplatinum

Half way through my 2nd cycle of taxol and carbo, I had an allergic reaction to the carbo.A ca125 blood test showed that my count went from 89 to 18. So my 3rd cycle was taxol alone. Has anyone experienced this, Is taxol effective alone? I was in remission for just about 2 years. Any response would be helpful. Thanks.

Well I'm responding to say that I'm sorry to read of your reaction.  Have you tried posting on ovca.net?  There are ladies there on all sorts of combinations and you may find some answers.  I would say that if the doctors are happy with this combination alone then give it a try.  Each person reacts in different ways to different treatments.

Good luck with the rest of your therapy and its good to see the CA125 go down.

I had Taxol/Carboplatin for my first treatment which was fine but then had a strong reaction to Taxol on the second treatment after only 20ml had been dripped in. Had to abort the treatment and wait three weeks for the next. The last two have been Carboplatin alone.
I feel OK and it seems to have had some effect in drying up the ascites I had but will know more next week when I see the consultant.
