2 week delay in ultrasound appropriate?

2 week delay in ultrasound appropriate?

After four months of constipation, bloating, abdominal distension (I look pregnant) and frequent/urgent need to urinate, I finally saw dr (actually a PA at GPs office). I had also gained about 15 pounds (in what seemed like overnight)in January. I'm 45, 2 years in menopause, never had children, Swedish grandmother who died of breast cancer. I knew nothing of ovca symptoms/risks but saw "doc" b/c abdominal pressure and distension were extremely uncomfortable. The PA ordered ultrasound b/c of "abdominal mass"; although she did not not feel tumor, something seemed not right. After PA was done, support staff scheduled ultrasound for two weeks away. PA has failed to return my calls left Thurs/Fri (she was at clinic both days). Is a two week delay for the ultrasound OK? Do you have any further recommendations? Thank you *very* much!

Hi Guvvie:
I had a 2-week wait for a CT scan after an ultrasound (which also required a 2-week wait!) located a mass, so yes, a 2-week wait seems par for the course. I guess they figure if we can wait months to years before seeking answers to pelvic pain/bloating/constipation without any incident, what's another 2 weeks in the scheme of things? Also, it's doubtful a delay of a couple of weeks will result in any drastic changes in your symptoms(for better or worse). Hang in there - you'll have some answers soon.

Hi Nancy,
Thanks for your input. Maybe I've seen too many movies. I feel much better having someone w/ OVCA screening experience tell me that this is not unusual. Good luck to you.
