2010 Weekend Get-together

Hi Ladies,

For the past two years, several of us have gotten together for a weekend just to meet each other, and have a weekend of fun and support.  So, if this is something everyone would like to do again, now is the time to start getting an idea of who, what, when, where, etc.  I think the idea this year would be to do it in September, since that is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.  Beyond that, I am open to any and all suggestions.  Boston was mentioned as a place to meet this year, and that's just groovy with me.  But this is our meeting, so if you have other suggestions, please send them!  Right now, nothing at all is planned, so this is your chance to speak your mind and let the rest of us know what you're thinking.

First, lets just get an idea of how many are interested in attending.  Your show of interest isn't an obligation just yet...just an idea of how many for which we should plan.  The closer it gets, we'll need to get a better number.  We had several who backed out at the last minute last year, so we'd like to avoid that this year if at all possible.  I understand this illness doesn't allow us the luxury of being able to plan so far in advance, so we'll do our best to work with everybody.

If you've noticed, I keep saying "we".  That means any and all offers of help setting this up are welcome!  This is an event for the entire group (and no, you don't have to have cancer to attend...if you are a caregiver or someone who frequents this forum, you're invited!), so the entire group has a say!

Okay, the floor is yours.  I'm looking forward to this being another great get-together!

Lisa, I'd room with you any time.  You put up with my snoring so well.   Lucky you, you can probably drive!

Hopefully this September I'll be in much better shape than I was last September ;)
Count me in for now! Boston sounds great...I LOVE seafood! Florida is always good too...being from Canada, any chance to escape to somewhere warm is something I'd be interested in!

I'm not sure. Dave lost his job so I'm not sure if I can afford it. I'm very interested. Especially if I can room with Trudie again.

At this stage I am in, just got to see about work as I may have some work trips around then. I was upset to have missed last years after going the1st year so I really hope I can come this time.
Boston sounds great to me!

One of the reasons we talked about Boston is because that's the general area where Ovations for the Cure is located.  We had such a small number last time, we thought it might be nice to take part in some already planned events.  The last weekend of September is the symposium at the Four Seasons sponsored by them.  The last time I checked, there was no info out on it yet, but if there is enough interest, I think that would be a great time to go.

I'm in! (I live in the 'burbs, so that was a no-brainer.) Please don't schedule it the same weekend as the Ovations for the Cure festivities in September... I'm obligated there first. Or make it the same weekend and we can all go to the gala together!

Boston is a great idea, there are also a couple of doctors and trials going on there, we might be able to hook up with someone that would come and speak with the group, maybe even sponsor an event.  Depending on alot of things, I will do my best to make it, but, either way, if there is anything that I can do to help plan the event, please let me know.

My mom's going through it all now. Stage 4 OC. When she's doing better, I'll take her to Boston in September. She's already been from Northern Canada. She really likes the city of Boston.

Count me in this year.  I was just sick that I missed it last year.  Just let me know what I can do to help.  I have always wanted to go to Boston, so that is good with me :-)

I'm very interested in attending this year's reunion. I think Boston is a great choice.

Thank you Gail for starting this.

I am so ready to do this again.  Meeting the ladies I've met on this forum has been one of the highlights of my life.  Boston would be awesome!  Chicago was cheesecake.  Boston is seafood!
