3cm 10 years after partial hysterectomy

by CJWilliams, Jan 26, 2007 12:00AM
At age 47 and a partial hysterectomy, I thought I was pretty well home free but a recent kidney/bladder sonogram found a 3cm cyst.  The report from the radiologist give no additional information.  Considering my age, the fact that I went thru the prior surgery, I am a little more than concerned.  After ready some of these post I am even more concerned as I was diagnosed with IBS 2 years ago and have recently been put Zelnorm which did help with the irregular bms. I have faxed the radiology report to my GYN and they are to call me on Monday. I asked him if I need additional tests and if I should have the CA125 blood test.  Has anyone had this experience? and what else should I be asking and/or looking for.  Thanks so much for your input.

Hi CJWilliams,

It is not rare to develop small cysts after a hysterectomy. i assume when you say "partial hysterectomy" you mean that your ovaries were preserved?

If so at age 47, you may still have ovarian function and develop functional ovarian cysts.
please see my previous post today on ovarian cysts
best wishes
