7.5cm complex ovarian cyst

7.5cm complex ovarian cyst

I was so pleased with the responses that others got that I decided to ask for help also. I am a 34 year old female who had  severe lower abdominal pain about 7 years ago. An ultrasound report showed several sub-cm fibroids and an enlarged left ovary.(I cannot remember the size). The doctor gave me some antibiotics and told me that I had nothing to worry about.

I had been fine until a month ago ,when the sharp pains returned. After another ultrasound, it was discovered that I had a complex 7.5cm cyst mass with internal septations on my left ovary and more than 5 intramural fibroids, the largest of which is 4cm.My uterus is enlarged and measures 11x8cm.

(I have always had heavy and painful periods since I can remember.)
I have heaviness and discomfort in my lower abdomen and slight pains in my lower back.I have great urges to urinate at least every hour and a half during which little urine is released. Urinating also causes a lot of discomfort in my abdomen( feels like when you hold urine too long).Sometimes I feel well ,sometimes I don't. The gyn sent me for a CA-125 blood test and two urine test ,one of which is a culture test.He also talked about surgery, which will be discussed in greater detail after the test results.

I am scared.I have no history of cancer (that I know of )in my family and I am also afraid of surgery.I also have no children yet and would not like to lose the ability to do so.Can anyone advise me on the best thing to do?I get my results back on Monday.
Thank you.

Hi, my name is Kim also and I just turned 33 this pasted thursday. Let me give you a little history on my self and if you get confused at all please do not hesitate to e-mail me. I have had 13 years of personal experience with female problems and I've also been in the medical field for the 13 years. I also have a very strong family history in several areas.

Let me start out by saying, relax, take a deep breath and take it one day at a time. Don't worry about something that doesn't exsist until you actually have it in black in white. And on that note, I am waiting to find out to see if I have ovarian cancer.... I had my CA-125 and pelvic US done last friday, I'll get my results this friday. So, yes it's easier said than done; however, I'm sitting in your shoes.

My history: I was diagnosised with precancerous cells during a routine PAP in 1993, was treated and have had normal PAPs since; however, I've never have regular periods. They were either light, hevy, or not at all. That's when I was diagnosised with Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome in 1996, along with Endometriosis. I have had several Ovarian Cystis rupture. I got married in 1999 and we started to try to have to have children. Nothing happend... I began fertility drugs and had three misscarriages, then I was told I would never be able to get and stay pregnant. The next month, suprise I was pregnant, no drug, very high risk pregnancy. Gestational diabetis and toxemia... After his birth I continued to hove severe problems with my periods, etc.

June 2007, sudden unexplain heavy bleeding, extreme pain... Saw my OBG said that he thought that I had a degenerating fibroid and possible Adenomysis (endometriosis which enters the uterine wall after surgery, ect).this landed me in the hospital on a Saturday for pain management and that following Tuesday my OBG remove my Uterus, leaving behind my cervix and both ovaries.

Since then, my left ovarie has had a cyst slowly growing on it. In Dec 2006 it was approx 4.5 cm and I have had chronic pelvic pain. My OBG (which I continued to call said everything was normal and said there was no reason to see me , even though somedays I couldn't get out of bed) My PCP ordered a pelvic CT and it read normal (normal uterus). Well how do you have a normal uterus when you don't have one. Well, apparently my uterine stum was so inflamed that it looked like a uterus on CT, basicly I had post op infection 2 months out and needed antibiotics.

Now, 8 months later I've decided to see another doctor and because of my family history. She is referring me to a OBG oncologist to complete my hysterectomy we are just trying to determine whether or not I actually have the "C" word. (Sorry, I'm a christian and I'm not claiming it. So, I don't even want to speak it into exsistance. Laugh if you will, but some people are superstious, I have faith.)

So, Kim I see your concern, but listen to your doctor and before you have any surgery or do anything, because you want children, get a second opinion. If there is no cancer and its just a cyst and/or fibriod those can be remove surgicly.

Like I said, feel free e-mail me. Just put something in the subject line referring to ovarian cysts. ***@****

Looking forward to hearing from you

Kim

Your symptoms sound just like what I have been battling.  I have a 20 year battle w/Endo and have had several procedures and I am 38 yrs old.
I am now female parts free( haha)  I am feeling so much better already despite the hot flashes!
Do the tests - talk to your Dr's and go with your "gut" feeling.
The unknown/waiting sux!
Good Luck!!
