83 year old diagnosed with suspected ovarian cancer

We been informed that my 83 year old mother has advanced cancer based on ct exam showing "caking of the stomach" and is suspected ovarian cancer based on fluid taken from her abdomen. The plan is to do a ct guided biopsy to confirm. Will the ct guided biopsy show what stage of cancer?  Once the test is back they will do chemo. She other tests be performed to confirm diagnoses?   What questions about the treatment and/or diagnosis should we be asking and exploring for her?  Does the advanced cancer make a difference for treatment of chemo? She has been informed and wants to live and do whatever to live.  thank you.

So sorry to hear that your mother is going through this.  Technically, they cannot diagnosis ovarian cancer without a biospy, but, regardless of the type, they are seeing cakings, etc through out which leads them to believe that it is advanced.  The chemo for ovarian cancer is not easy, but, doable....my mother is 80 and fraile, she would not be able to tolerate the treatment, but, does not mean that your mother can't.  They may choose to do treatment prior to surgery to shrink the tumors, or to just be able to provide your mother comfort.
Once a diagnosis is made, you will need to discuss all the options with the doctor, your family and your mom.
Keep us posted,
Pam
