Abnormal bleeding, etc

by marisco, Nov 08, 2003 12:00AM
I am 46 and meopausal. I have previously been diagnosed with atypical hyperplasia several tears ago. Last year, because of pain, I had an tv/us which showed large complex cyst on lefy ovary and 3 large uterine fibroids. CA125 was slightly elevated. Doc wanted to do a laproscopy but I asked for another u/sound. We did another and the cyst was gone! Yay! I haven't had periods now for 10 months. For 3 weeks straight I had brown discharge, pain in lower left side and my left leg goes numb often.I have also had a dramatic change in bowel habits. My stools are very narrow and frequent and I have been extremely tired. Went to Doc yesterday...He did a pelvic and could NOT find my uterus. (I am not fat, athough my abdomen is swollen). He scheduled another tv/us for next week.

I realize that the u/sound will tell a lot, but can you think of any reason that he couldn't feel my uterus? In retrospect, I worry. I asked him what he meant that he couldn't find it, he seemed really puzzled and said something about it being well supported. Sounds funny to me now. Any thoughts?

Thanks much,

Dear marisco- I, too have large complex mass on ovary, 5 cm. I am scheduled for laporscopy on Tuesday, an oncologist is going to assist because of the complex nature of the cyst, as it has cystlike and solid properties, and is causing me pain not only in the front region where the ovary is, but in my lower back and hip area as well.
I am curious about the type and size of the cyst that you had. I have two opinions to remove this and biopsy it - I am having the entire ovary removed and biopsied while I am in surgery.
I am curious how yours could just dissapear, and why they called it complex.
