Acid Relux

The first symtom I had when the OVCA started was Acid Reflux, of course because of the symtom, ovca was discovered in stage 3.   Anyone have acid reflux than discover it was a symtom of ovca?     Suddenly now Six months after surgery, the acid reflux is starting again....

I also had acid reflux before which was contolled by Previcid. Just like you said, the acid reflux I had recently before being diagnosed with OC was "different".  My gyno had little to say about the previous ultrasounds being "normal" and then only a few months later being stage III OC.  I ditched him and checked myself into MD Anderson.  I am certain there are ways to get treated at a cancer center without insurance.  Don't waste any time- get checked out ASAP.  You're in my prayers.

What did not your dr say about the 1st ultrasound being normal & then the 2nd one showing ovca? That's what scares me. My 1st ultrasound in May shows a solid mass on left ovary. Follow up cat scan didn't show it, just enlarged ovary. I'm having a follow ultrasound this week. What if it does not show. Can I trust it? I do feel that something is wrong because of this reflux problem. I actually had reflux for years controlled by Prilosec. But these past 6 months it changed weirdly, not like it was. I am taking Nexium now too. So did your dr think it's the ascites or tumor that causes the reflux? Your very lucky you went to MD Anderson they're suppose to be a very reputable place. With my insurance, I probably won't be able to go if I need to.

I don't know if this helps anyone, but I just read that ovca can mimic certain symptoms, such as acid relux.  So, maybe if you have a clean endoscopy but have symptoms of acid reflux, that in itself may be a symptom of ovca.  just a thought.

Here is a little suggestion that may help with the acid reflux.  First of all, most acid reflux is caused by the ph balance in your stomach being alkaline.  Oddly enough, when we get acid indigestion, the first thing we think of is that there is too much acid in our stomancs, and reach for the Rolaids or Tums.  Unfortunately, it is exactly the opposite - we do not have enough acid in the stomach, and we need to reacidify it. What you need to do is to take about 2 tablespoons of vinegar.  This will re-acidify your stomach, getting it back to normal, which should releive all the acid reflux symptoms.

Now for the OVAC - This is just the opposite.  Sounds strange, but our for our bodies to perform perfectly, like when we were created, our bodies need to be alkaline based.  I'd be willing to bet if you were to take a saliva ph test, your saliva would register acid base.  It's kind of like the ph system of your body and stomach switched.  Cancer cannot live in an alkaline based body.  Ask your Doctor.  If he/she knows anything about the latest cancer research, they will tell you the same thing.

There has been some remarkable results with Cancer patients taking a juice suppliment caled Goji Juice.  It has the ability to realkalie the blood, clense your body of free radicals, and remove all the waste left behind from all the calories we burn.  It is believed that the waste left behind from burning calories, collects in certain cells in our body, causing those cells to eventually mutate and as those cells divide, the produce other damaged cells which can cause tumors both malignant and non malignant.  IF you are interested in trying the Goji Juice, you can e-mail me at ***@****, and I will point you in the right direction.  Hope this helps, and God Bless.

I discovered my ovca in the ER with a MRI.  Had the same MRI one year prior, because of the acid reflux and only had a tiny cyst on ovary.  One year later stage 3.

What did they say about the cyst on 1st MRI? Did they follow up on it? Did your dr think that 1st cyst was the same one that turned cancerous the year before? As far the ER, that's what I did, went to ER in Jan for this acid reflux problem, had cat scan, nothing showed. Went to primary care dr many times & had pelvic & abdominal MRI in March, nothing on left ovary. Ultrasound in May shows this solid mass on left ovary all of a sudden. My dr said cyst may POSSIBLY could have been there all this time but did not show on the cat/mri's because the pelvic area does not show good on these tests that's why they recommend ultrasound. (I still think it show thou somewhere)  Also so how are you doing now? Are they giving you a good prognosis?

I had a pelvic CT scan last Oct. that was "notrmal".  A follow-up TV ultrasound the following Dec. was also normal (I had slight pain on my right side which was the reason for the tests).  By late March, I had terrible acid reflux.  Went to four different doctors- my GI who did an endoscopy/ colonoscopy, my breast cancer oncolgist, my GP and my gyno- all who told me it was gastrointestinal problems and I was prescribed Nexxium.  I asked my gyno to humor me and do another ultrasound/ ca-125 and I was diagnosed with stage III ovarian cancer.  After the acid reflux, the only other symptom I had was swelling/ ascites.  By the time I got into MD Anderson for surgery, I looked 4 months pregnant.  Fortunately, I have great doctors now; after surgery and 2 rounds of chemo, I am doing well.  Hang in there.  Ovarian cancer symptoms tend to mimic all kinds of gastro problems.  My acid reflux still comes and goes- my gyno/oncologist says it is from the swelling I still have in my abdomen from the surgery.

How did your dr diagnose you with ovca at stage3? Did a lot of it show on the ultrasound or cat scan? Did anything show on your CA125? Sorry for so many questions, I'm just getting nervous now. My dr said the same thing that one should not have to do with it other but it seems like it is because there is no other cause. Exactly what happened to you with the reflux, were you having just bad heartburn all the time. Mine in a funny weird burn in my mouth like "hot peppermint" that burns my stomach & can't have any chocolate, citrus or anything because it will upset it. After your ovca surgery, did the reflux go away at that time?

My Dr. said that the acid reflux really should have nothing to do with the ovca.  But because that was my first symtom for six months, than only constipation later on, I still feel that it has something to do with it.  It happens at all times, sitting, or bending over.  I did have a upper GI, only have a small hernia.

That's my problem now. I've been having this weird acid reflux for 6 months & it happens mainly when I bend or lift. Went to gasto dr in January, had GI series, endoscopy, only showed mild gastritis. Dr says should not have this on & on. This past month went to gyn & had ultrasound with solid mass on ovary. CA125 showed normal. Having f/u ultrasound this week. However I still have this reflux & I swear it's from this cyst/tumor. What exactly were/are your symptoms with the reflux? Was it physically related to how you bent or sat? Did your doctor tell you how ovca could cause that symptom?
