Adenofibroma?

Adenofibroma?

Specifically, I'm interested in figuring out what this one was. On my path report when I had my hyster in '99, they wrote:

"Sections of ovary show a dense fibrous stroma with occasional small glandular inclusions which are not associated with endometrial-type stroma. The features are consistent with an adenofibroma of the ovary."

Translation please.

Of course I guess this was benign, but don't know if it has any bearing on what I might have now.

The dr. doesn't know if my current 2.2 cm cyst is a cluster of follicles or just one cyst, the u/s tech says it appears to be bleeding in on itself. I've had an u/s on 1/11, another on 4/18 with no change in size, and now have been told to get another one in July. If I had this adenofibroma thing before, could today's be the same type of thing?

Oh yeah, there appears to be septation in it? I asked the tech if the septation was still there and she said yes, but it looks thicker and different.

I went to an online Medical Dictionary, here's what it said:

Adenofibroma: A benign neoplasm composed of glandular and fibrous tissues, with a relatively large proportion of glands.

(I also looked up Neoplasm:  New and abnormal growth of tissue, which may be benign or cancerous.)

Here's the online medical dictionary, I use it all the time when trying to read my test results:

I would not think that 'today's thing' is the same. Previously, you had an adenofibroma, a type of solid structure on the ovary; it was a tumor.   It appears from the notes that you posted that you now have a cyst, a complex cyst at that (has septations in it.)    It is quite likely that you have a hemorrhagic cyst (a type of cyst that bleeds)  that does not seem willing to resolve quickly on its own.   It may very well be that it has to be removed surgically.

Thanks for helping me sort things out, I do appreciate it. That dictionary site is pretty incredible!

Have to tell you that it took me days to get onto this site, for some reason my server wasn't being accepted. (??)

But I got a new email for myself, I just HAD to get on here, it was driving me crazy wanting to talk to all of you....

Of all the sites I've read, THIS is the place to be!

Thanks again!
