Administering IP Cisplatin

My mother started her first round of IP consolidation today with single agent Cisplatin after 6 cycles of IV Carbo/Taxol.    From what I have read the chemo drugs are heated to body temperature and then infused into the abdominal cavity.  However this was not done in my mother’s case.  They gave the drug via the IP port without heating it.  Has anyone had a similar experience?

The only time they heat it is when they do it during surgery. I think that is a one time treatment, with none after that. I did the ip like your mom, I got cisplatin day one ip, taxol day 2, and iv taxol day 8, for 4 rds. not heated. Since she had taxol they may just be doing cisplatin on your mom.  Best wishes Donna

I had the IP cisplatin and it was warmed.  It would come from the pharmacist in a warmed blanket too.  However, it was kept warm with water and then hung.  I can't imagine it stayed very warm while dripping in me since that took a couple of hours.  My treatment was Day 1 IV Taxol, Day 2 IP Cisplatin and then Day 8 IP Taxol for 6 rounds.

I had cisplatin on the same day I had IV  taxetere  it was not warmed although it was probably body temp. not cold.  They had a warming machine at the office.

I may have misunderstood the question. I was referring to IPHC which is done during 1st or 2nd look surgery. It is heated to approximately 43C or equivilent of 109F, and administered open abdomen.
The ip I had was after my surgery had healed thru an ip catheter port, it was not cold, so probably warmed a little, but not 109 degrees F                  Donna
