Adnexal mass

by mama2monkey, Nov 29, 2004 12:00AM
My mother, who is 54 years old, was told today that she has a mass in her lower abdomen where her right ovary would be if she still had it. She had a complete hysterectomy several years ago. The doctor instructed her to get an ultrasound done this week to see what the mass is. He told her it could be scar tissue from her surgery. When she was checking out she noticed that he wrote adnexal mass as her diagnosis. I was wondering what exactly this is, and if it could be cancerous? So far from what I've researched, I've seen nothing where anyone has had an adnexal mass having had a complete hysterectomy so long ago. Thanks for any advice.
