Hi, sorry I couldn't get back to you yesterday, our internet was down!!  My appointment went well with the dr.  She did order a TVU for me because she agreed with my previous gyn that I should be getting them because of my mom's history, but during the internal, she said she felt nothing out of the ordinary, all seemed fine.  I told her about my weird periods so she said the ultrasound would also show if there were possibly any polyps but it could certainly also be just perimenopause.  I'm supposed to schedule the u/s on about the 4-5th day of my next period as she said this is the best time to really perform it because the lining of the uterus is thinned out by then and it lets them get an even better look at everything.  I also have to have my annual mammogram and an ultrasound of an area of my right breast. She thought she felt something alittle different but couldn't be sure.  I have fibrous breasts and while she feels that it is most likely just a change in that, she thought it best just to have a better look, so I'll have to call for an appt to have that done as well.  Thank you so much for your thoughts, I cannot tell you enough what it means to me to know that someone out there, that I have never met has my best interest at hand. In turn, please let me know when your mom's surgery is this week because I wish her nothing but the best. I understand completely what you are going through. I know that you're concerned that if your mom does have ovca that it may increase your chance. I was asking my dr about that yesterday. She told me that unless I knew for sure if my mom's was the familial kind, then my risk was really not much greater than anyone else without the history.  She said I'd have to go to a genetic counselor to be tested for the gene to find out for sure but that in most cases (90%), there has been no history anyway. Please try to remain positive not only for yourself, but especially for your mom.  Please keep me posted and GOOD LUCK!!!
