After Chemo - Health Side Affects

My Mom is 4 months post chemo for ovca 3c.  Shes been having major back sciatica pain for about 2 months.  Today we went to a nuerologist, he said she may have oesteoporosis because of surgical menopouse and steroids.  Not sure yet we're waiting for her results of the xray and mri.  

Has anyone here develped any sort of Osteoporosis because of the ovca menopouse?  If so how did you find out and what was the treatment?

Any advise would be very helpful.

I had osteopenia (pre-osteoporosis - thinning of the bones) prior to my chemo and it worsened slightly afterward.  I am on Boniva now.  My doctor advised me that the chemo would affect the condition so I was expecting it. At my age (64), it won't get better; the reason for the Boniva is to keep it from worsening.  Keeping one's weight down and walking/exercising regularly helps a great deal.  Hope this helps.
