After effects of biopsy and colposcopy

is it normal to have breakthrough bleeding after a colposcopy and a biopsy??? i had these procedures done on september 15 and the following teusday I started bleeding really bad, but 4-5 hours later it was gone. at first I thought that it was my period that was due the next day, and it was just really bad, but then, when there was no longer any bleeding I got worried. I contacted my doctor, and several nurses on call, but no one could tell me what had happened. now it is two days after my period was due, and almost all of my pre menstrual syptoms (symptoms) are gone, and there has been no more bleeding. has any body ever had this similar experience, and is it normal for something like this to happen???
