Another cant wait....

Hi All. I am a 46 yr old mom of three. I have been having some issues for about two years...at first I thought I was having hot flashes and starting menopause....burning neck, feeling bloated, headache, pressure. It happened a for a few months and then seemed to get better. Well it came back and I realized it was high blood pressure.( runs in the  family and I am overweight and highly stressed most of the time( I am  single mom, house in foreclosure, child with spina bifida, another with depression inherited from me(dysthymia)and a third with possible bi polar disorder/depression, unemployment,t you name I have been dealing, with it for a long time...stress is my life) Anyway I kept telling my Dr my BP was high....but every time I went it was normal....then I went to a walk in one day because I had chest pain and shortness of breath...and high blood pressure...I can  tell when my BP is high just by the way I feel... that day it was 168/110. Diagnosed with acute stress.....duh. Recently it dawned on me that my BP is high when I have my period...so made another appointment with my regular dr. Came out of there with "lets rule out ovarian cancer"....after listening to me thoroughly she palpated my abdomen and said " you've got a lot of ovary in there" on my right side....and after thinking about it I remember recently tying my shoes and feeling that sharp stab of ovary pain I usually get when ovulating.... but I was on my period...so I am going for the ultrasound  on Wednesday (two days), waiting for the blood work to comeback...my question is this...(sorry so wordy) has anyone had high blood pressure as a symptom of ovarian cancer?? Has anyone had issues with BP  related to menstruation?? Thanks in advance...I am not freaking out about CA but I wasn't expecting that as I went in to talk about my BP...I don't have time to be sick I have a kid who is never going to take care of herself...and no one to take care of her if something happens to me and two other kids, four rescued dogs... I am nervous if it is cancer it is late stage as it seems most people don't realize or get diagnosed early on.  Hope you are all doing well!!!

Sorry for all your troubles. I hope you fit the statistics and do not have ovarian cancer. I cannot speak to the high BP as I have not had that.

What you describe does not sound like ovarian cancer. You have  over a 98% it is not ovarian cancer. Less than 2% of women get ovarian cancer and many of them have the BRCA mutation causing cancer or a high family history of Ovarian and Breast cancer. My grandmother and aunt died of ovarian, my dad and brother got advanced prostate cancer in their 50's (most men get prostate cancer but not in their 50's) and my cousin had a double mastectomy young from breast cancer. I have a small family. I also have the BRCA 1 mutation. Most ovarian cyst are not cancer. They can be as big as grapefruits and not be cancer. They can be painful and not be cancer. Pain can cause your blood pressure to rise. Your doctor is just covering all the bases.

I had a doctor tell me I had jaw cancer and after surgery it was a broken jaw. Gallbladder cancer it was a stone. Three lethal brain things it was MS which is not lethal. I had a lump under my armpit they thought was breast cancer it was a lymph node. I just had a CT scan looking for a brain tumor it was negative. Most things doctors test for are negative.

I have learned not to get upset until all the testing is in and they are sure. In your case they may do surgery to take out the cyst and may not know until they see for themselves but I would not worry until they are sure either way.
