Any tips on the best way to drink magnesium citritrate to prep for a colonoscpoy?

Prepping for a colonoscopy tomorrow and looking for tips on the best way to drink the magnesium citrate prep.  I have read it is best to be cold and drank through a straw.   Should I drink it straight or mix it with something?

I use a big straw and drink it really fast without breathing until it is gone.  Yuck.

I have to hold my nose when I drink it.  Can't abide the smell, nauseating.  Chilling it definitely makes it easier.  Good luck and stay positive.

I'm doing the same thing tonight.  And it's not my first rodeo.  This is the fourth different type of "stuff" they've given me.  Don't like any of them.

Tip I've been given:  use petroleum jelly liberally on your rectum to protect it from the acidity of what's coming through.

I sometimes have trouble with drinks that are TOO cold.  I left my mix, which had been refrigerated, on the counter while I was downing it (one cup every 15 minutes).  I didn't throw any up, a new "indoor record" for me.

Good luck tonight -- and tomorrow!

Drink it chilled.  If you need to mix it with something, you can, but it just takes longer to get it down.  Try drinking it over ice with a straw first, and see if that helps.  But because it is carbonated, if you drink it too quickly, you risk spewing like a volcano (I know this by experience!).  It is very sour, so you can also try eating a piece of hard candy in between drinks.

Best wishes to you.
