Hi Helen.... Yes... that Gemzar did a 'real number' on my platelets... so bad that I needed an urgent infusion. I was driving to our capital city for the day... out along the road when my cell phone rang. My Oncol. asked where I was, and when I told him, he directed me to turn the car around pronto and get to the Oncol. unit for infusion or I could haemorrage. Scarey stuff. The Gemzar also was harsh on my red cells.. I needed a transfusion for those too. I've been doing chemo for over 2 years, and the Gemzar is the only one that I've had these problems with. The annoying thing was... it didn't work for me, so it was all 'pain and no gain'. I hope at least it works for you Helen.
Let's know how you go. best wishes...hugs...Helen..
