well im not sure yet if i have ovarian cancer,,but my cyst shows all the signs of it....i go to the dr tomorrow,,well actually today..ha ha !!!!i cant sleep,,up all night sleep all day....but from the research that i have done there are many types of ovarian cancer that will show a normal ca125 level,,,,lots of research even states that the ca125 shouldnt even be a test to rule out ovarian cancer because alot of time its so inaccurate....but yes i agree that MOST gynecologists arent up to date on current research about ovarian cancer,,i think they are so use to finding benign cysts that they clasify them all that way at first,,,but those are the dr's that get a big kick in the ass when they ignore their patients complaints and tell them its no big deal then to only find out their patient was right all along....thats happened to me soooooo many times......most of the time i diagnose myself before the dr even has a fighting chance.....my body is very sensitive to any thing foreign and i can usually pinpoint it very very early....so we will see,,i hope i dont have cancer but i also dont want to WAIT AROUND AND SEE!!!!!!,,,thats the approach of many dr's.....

I have granulosa cell tumor cancer, and was being tracked by Inhibin and CA-125 for 9 years.  I had a "regrowth" of the ovary that was removed, 2.5 years ago, was told it was unusual but that ovaries can grow back (based on the normal levels of the two tests, they weren't too concerned).  Well, 2.5 months ago, the "ovary" was now a tumor triple in size.  I had another set of tests and it came back with a third test Inhibin B which was elevated while Inhibin A and CA-125 were again in the normal range.  I will be getting Inhibin B tests now monthly for 2 years after having the tumor removed.

I work in an or and asked our gyn/onc why they dont perform a ca-125 as a normal screening and what i was told is that it does not pick up alot of differnt types of cancer, especially if it is mucenous
