Are their better options?

My Mother has Ovarian Cancer. She is building up fluid in her body which is putting pressure on her lungs. They have drained the fluid and it has built back up. They put a continuos fluid drip in there and now are recommending a procedure where they put a fluid in to the drip to scar the lung tissue to prevent fluid build up. They say that 1/3 of the patients experience extreme pain for 2-4 days. Are their alternatives that may be less painful? Are their better options?
