Ascites returns after a few days-more you drain the more you get?

by LILLIAN577, Jul 01, 2009 08:51PM
My mom had 3 1/2 bottles of fluid removed 2 days ago about 8 lbs of fluid and today she looks so swollen again. The more you drain the more comes back? Faster? Mean the disease is progressing faster? What are some of the other options?
Biopsy tommorow of omentum and 2 rounds of chemo after that!

Lillian,
I am sure that you are scared. As for the more you drain the more you get, I am just not sure about that. That is something you need to ask her Dr. And I don't know if that means the disease is progressing faster either. As for options, other than draining it, chemo is the only other option that i know of as it helps to dry it up. Please speak to your moms Dr about this and you might even want to try and have her surgery pushed up as there is no reason why she should be having to deal with this for so long.
