Atypical Glandular Cells of Endocervical Origin

Atypical Glandular Cells of Endocervical Origin

Hi I am a 39 year old mother with 1 daughter.  I was just diagnosed with Atypical Glandular Cells of Endocervical Origin about a week ago.  The results say that there is moderate inflammation as well.  The DR wants to do a Colposcopy and a biopsy to rule out an Underlying Glandular Lesion.  Now I have done some research online and all the results from the research come back saying that it may be pre-cancerous or cancerous.  The idea of having cervical cancer terrifies me.  What could have brought this on?  I have been married to the same man for 22 years and he has been my only sex partner.  Plus to make me more confused in the past 5 years we have had limited sex due to my husband been on dialysis.  What should I expect from the Colposcopy and biopsy??

Hi, thank you for the link.  I have done research on the topic and what I am getting is that the kind of cells the Dr found in me were rear and worrisome.  I was just wondering if I should be worried because that means that I might have cervical cancer.  Once again thank you for the responce.

Hi There

there is a risk of cervical cancer or even cancer from the uterus maybe about 1 percent of the time
there is a risk of a precancerous lesions about 40% of the time
60%  turn out to be benign changes

best wishes
